The Ghost Ship Philosophy
SOMETIMES, THE ORDINARY JUST ISN'T ENOUGH.
We go to the theatre to make life feel bigger: more exciting, more mysterious, more romantic, more dangerous. For a few hours, the everyday falls away and we get to imagine that anything can happen.
Ghost Ship grew from the desire to close the distance between watching something extraordinary and being part of it. We wanted to create experiences where the action doesn’t happen on the other side of the footlights—it happens around you, between you, and because of you. For a little while, you get to step out of your own life and into a more thrilling one.
Lindsay Carpenter
Lindsay is an award-winning writer and director whose work spans theatre, film and television. She wrote and directed the award-winning short film Little One, which has screened at festivals around the world, and her plays have been produced across the United States. She has also written for the award-winning CBC series Amours d’occasion. Her work at Ghost Ship is driven by a love of bold premises, richly imagined characters and the unexpected details that make a fictional world irresistible. She channels that imagination into experiences that entice guests to leave themselves behind for the night.
S. Dylan Zwickel
Dylan is an award-winning playwright and director who has spent her career developing new plays and musicals in New York and London. Her experience includes four years on the creative team developing the Tony Award-winning musical The Outsiders. Her plays and musicals have been developed and produced on both sides of the Atlantic, including The Moss Maidens, winner of Best Play at New York’s SheNYC Festival. At Ghost Ship, Dylan brings a playwright’s expertise in character, dramatic structure, and surprise—and a director’s understanding of performance and audience experience—to creating mysteries in which every guest becomes part of the story.
